Our work is driven by our mission:

To ensure that girls around the world are educated and empowered. When every girl is free to reach her full potential, our work will be done.

Our Stories

Storytelling can be a transformational catalyst for impact and long-term social change. Ours are told through film, television, social media videos, graphic novels, radio, curricula and more.

The Original Girl Rising Film

We began with a film about nine unforgettable girls, written by award-winning authors and voiced by some of Hollywood's biggest celebrities. Today, it stands at the heart of our programs that help girls and their communities thrive and reaches many more through public screenings. The film has been translated into over 30 languages and adapted in Hindi, Hausa, Lingala, Swahili, Congolese French, and Tshiluba.

We Will Rise

Produced by the Girl Rising team, and in partnership with the Let Girls Learn initiative, We Will Rise: Michelle Obama's Mission to Educate Girls Around the World showcases stories of girls from Liberia and Morocco. It is now one of CNN's highest rated documentary specials.

Short Form Content

We produce short-form videos, including our Impact video and We Dream, We Rise, made in partnership with the Indian government. This content is disseminated across social media and as public service announcements in theaters and on television.

Book

Girl Rising: Changing the World One Girl at a Time by award-winning author Tanya Lee Stone is a young adult book packed with stories from the field, statistics, and photos. Now available in English, French and Korean

Our Programs

Incredible organizations provide schools, scholarships, and other resources for girls, but far fewer work to change beliefs and mindsets to ensure that girls are able to access those resources. We work with partners to change attitudes and behaviors, and spark community-led initiatives. Together, we advance a future where every girl has the opportunity to go to school, stay in school, and reach her full potential.
